NEW DELHI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant, has launched the much awaited Toyota Camry, a premium mid-size sedan in the country tagged with a price of IRs 2.38 million. Toyota Camry is the bestselling passenger car in North America as well as Australia and after undergoing six fabulous generations, the seventh generation made its way to the Indian auto market. Toyota Camry has distinct and premium exteriors that sport an elegantly fabricated five-slat chrome grille, curvilinear body styling and bold and angular headlamps. On the interiors, the fusion of high quality wood and leather uplifts the luxurious feel of the sedan. It is anticipated that the Toyota Camry has an edge over its rivals in terms of the install-ation of latest features and
convenience attributes. One of the highlights in the car is the cruise control feature coupled with an advanced trip
computer, dedicated for keeping records of all data regarding mileage, trip distance, et cetera. The petrol sedan is loaded with a 2.5 litre dual VVT-I petrol engine churning out a top power of 181 PS and 233 Nm of top torque working in tandem with the six-speed automatic gearbox. Camry seems to be highly fuel efficient owing to the mileage of 12.1 kmpl offered as per ARAI.
VW passenger car sales surge
WOLFSBURG: The passenger car arm of the German
automaker, Volkswagen AG has disclosed its sales figures for the period of January to July 2012 showcasing an impressive catapult of 10.4 per cent globally. Sales during the period
under review were recorded at 3.26 million vehicles as compared to the sale of 2.95 million vehicles scored during the same period last year. Despite adverse market conditions
persisting in Europe, sales in the month of July witnessed a hike of 11.9 per cent with major contribution from Central and Eastern Europe. Global sales in July 2012 stood at 468,300 vehicles as compared to 418,600 units sold in the concerned month last year. In the European continent, sales registered in the first seven months of the current year were 1.05 million vehicles surging by 2.5 per cent as compared to the same
period in 2011. Sales in parent country, Germany, were tallied at 361,400 units rising by 2.5 per cent in comparison to the sales during the period under review in 2011. In the American market, sales in North America surged by 23.4 per cent from 280,900 vehicles to 346,700 vehicles, while in South
America sales jumped by an average 6.4 per cent during the period under review. In the Asia-Pacific market, the total sales increased by 15.1 per cent with the major sales driven by its largest market in the region, China to the tune of 1.14
million vehicles.
