KATHMANDU: Traffic Police has escalated security checks citing convenience and safety to the passengers ahead of festive seasons.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Police, Pavan Giri, said they have heightened the security checks to prevent possible fraud, loot and coercion on passengers.
Traffic Police has intensified security checks at different entry and exit points of the valley.
He further informed that the security check is ongoing form 10am to 8pm at Sallaghari and Pharping while it is being tightened at Nagdhunga and Kalanki after 2pm.
Citizens' help fund has been set up at 12 different places of capital to solve the passengers' problems. Similarly, police has passed strict directions on not to allow passengers travel on hoods of public vehicles.
The number of bus passengers has increased in almost all routes with festive season approaching.
