DHARAN: Citing security reason, the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs has announced indefinite transport closure in Mechi, Koshi and Sagarmatha zones from Monday.

Issuing a separate press release today, Mechi, Koshi and Sagarmatha chapters of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs said that they would shut vehicular movement until and unless security was guaranteed.

Eastern regional coordinator Harinarayan Yadav of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs said that they were compelled to close the service as vandalism on vehicles and attack on the workers had increased during bandhs organised by different parties and groups. He went on to say that they would stop operating the transport service until security was ensured.

Similarly, the Koshi zone coordinator of the National Federation of National Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Saroj Shrestha said that they were compelled to shut the vehicle service as the police administration had failed to provide them security.

Mechi coordinator LP Sitaula of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs said that transport vehicles would not ply unless the government provides them security.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Administration Dhankuta chief Krishnachandra Paudel said that his office would invite transport entrepreneurs to the negotiating table and resolve the issue at the earliest.
