CHITWAN: Two persons were killed and another injured when a truck plunged into Trishuli River on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred when a mini truck heading to Narayangarh from Kathmandu carrying chickens skidded some 100 feet off the road near Nagdi stream in Darechowk VDC at 1:45 am, the Chitwan District Police Office said.
The deceased have been identified as Kaviraj Gartaula, 20 of Jeevanpur and a person known as Saila, 30 hailing from Naubise in Dhading district.
Truck driver Maniram Thapa, 26, Jeevanpur-3, who was seriously injured is being treated in Bharatpur hospital, police said.
In another incident, a cyclist was killed when a motorbike hit him in Kanchapur district.
Jeet Bahadur Khadka, 50, of Daiji VDC died when a motorbike enroute to Mahendranagar from Dhangadhi knocked him down, the Kanchanpur District Police Office said.
Motorcyclist Sachitra Dagaura, Prakash Dagaura and Nishan Dagaura of Suda VDC were critically injured.
Injured Khadka succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital, police said.
