Two held for forging citizenhip‚ bank fraud

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested Bijaya Kumar Das of Biratnagar, Morang and Tankanath Acharya of Thapathumka-3, Sindhuli on the charge of document forgery and bank fraud from separate place of Lalitpur. They are accused of forging documents, including citizenship, and taking credit cards and loan from several banks, financial institutions and cooperatives using the faked documents.



Acting on a tip off, a special team of security personnel from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) held Das from Kusunti and Acharya from Mahalaxmisthan respectively and handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur for further investigation.


According to police, Das forged a citizenship in the name of Bijaya Sharma and used it to take Rs 2.5 million loan from Imporial Finance and Rs 1.1 million from Stuti Finance.

According to police, Acharya forged a citizenship in the name of Binod Acharya and used it along with other documents to open accounts in Standard Chartered Bank and Global Bank and obtain credit cards from there.
