KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN-UML held on Wednesday has reshuffled the leaders' responsibilities.
The meeting decided to relieve the ministers representing the party in the government from the responsibility of the party's departmental chiefs.
As per the fresh decision, party secretary Yubraj Gyawali has been assigned to head the financial department of the UML, replacing Bharat Mohan Adhikary, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance in the present government.
Likewise, Shankar Pokharel has been given the responsibility of parliamentary department along with the post of deputy parliamentary party leader of the UML. Earlier, Bishnu Paudel, who is the defense Minister, was the head of the department.
Similarly, Bidhya Bhandari will head the eastern region, Surendra Pandey will oversee the department of finance, planning and monitoring, Karna Bahadur Thapa is the in-charge of Seti Zone, Chhabilal BK of Lumbini Zone and Lalit Basnet of Rapti Zone, said party secretary Shankar Pokahrel.
The meeting has given the responsibility of law department to Raghuji Pant, local bodies department to Netra Panthi, foreign affairs to Bhim Rawal, youth department to Yogesh Bhattarai and department of student to Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.
Earlier, the ninth central committee meeting of the UML had entrusted the standing committee of the party to reassign the leaders' portfolio.
Likewise, the meeting has given responsibility to Prime Minister and Party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal to draft the integrated report of the agenda for the forthcoming tenth meeting of the central committee meeting.
