KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the CPN UML has got underway at the party central office in Balkhu on Thursday afternoon.
The meeting is expected to determine the party line on the Maoist proposal put forth at the recently held three-party talks at the Hattiban Resort and the Gokarna Resort.
At the Hattiban Resort talks, the Maoist presented four different options including the presidium system on a rotational basis to end the protracting leadership stalemate.
The UML is divided over the Maoist proposal, with party chairman Jhalanath Khanal-led faction favouring it while the rival faction led by senior UML leader KP Oli opposing it.
Today’s meeting is also expected to finalise the agenda for the party’s upcoming Central Committee (CC) meeting scheduled for November 30-December 3.
