JANAKPURDHAM: Disgruntled leaders of the CPN-UML have hinted that they are preparing to launch a new political party in a few days.

Speaking at a gathering of party cadres organised in Janakpur, UML leader Ashok Rai said the party leadership has been reluctant to address the concerns of the marginalised and the oppressed communities. “As the party has abandoned its ideology and failed to learn lessons from the past, we can no longer stay united in the same party,” he clarified, hinting at the possibility of launching a new party.

On a different context, Rai accused the Nepali Congress and UML of trying to drag the president into controversy by making him take unconstitutional decisions.

UML politburo member Ramchandra Jha held the three major political parties responsible for the protracted political deadlock. “The NC is always against the oppressed and the UML is now siding with it.”
