KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Party of CPN-UML on Friday directed the party's Constituent Assembly members to abide by the part line if voting is carried out on federalism.
In the PP meeting held this afternoon, party Chairman and PP leader Jhala Nath Khanal warned of disciplinary action if any CA member breached the party line and voted against it.
Khanal asked the UML CA members to vote for the six-Pradesh proposal put forth by minority members of the commission on state-Restructuring and distribution of state power.
The Constituent Assembly regulations do not have a provision of issuing a whip in the CA meeting.
The UML PP's directive has come in the wake of an understanding among the Madhesi and Janajati lawmakers of various parties to stay united for identity-based states.
