KATHMANDU: The United Nations on Tuesday condemned the fatal bomb attack in Janakpur and urged the authorities to take necessary steps to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident in accordance with national and international law.
"The United Nations Country Team in Nepal is deeply saddened by this attack and
would like to convey its condolences to the families of the victims and to wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured," Robert Piper, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, said in a statement issued by the United Nations Country Team today.
Four civilians were killed and at least 28 others were injured after a bomb was exploded during a peaceful gathering at Ramananda Chowk in Janakpur on Monday morning.
Piper further added that the Country Team stands firmly behind the political parties’ effort to complete the Constitution making process.
