Untouchable evils

CHAKRA KARKI

Nepal is the richest country not only for natural beauty and heritages but also for social problems and evils. There are so many evils which affect every part of the country. Child labour, girl trafficking, drugs market, dowry system, kidnapping, poverty, discrimination among boys and girls, et cetera are the main problems of Nepal. Untouchable means to belong to the lowest class in the social rung, whose touch was regarded as defiling to the four main castes.

The Nepali society are seriously affected by these problems.

All human beings are equal, but why is Nepali society suffering from these evils? Law makers also follow these evils, so how can we stop the public? All people have the same blood, but why are we divided into different castes? We must think with a cool mind. Evils may result in the country being divided into fragments. It can probably slow the progress of society. Is this humanity? Why we are not thinking seriously? Even in the main cities of Nepal like Kathmandu, Biratnagar, Pokhara, such misconceptions are

prevalent.

In order to remove these evils, public awareness is needed. Many educational programmes should be started in the uneducated, ignorant societies of Nepal. The government must put the slogan of ‘Equality is Opportunity’ into action. The eyes of the governmental and non-governmental organisations must gaze into these social crimes of Nepal. The laws must be practical and should be able to fight against social evils and crimes.
