Villagers enjoy 24-hr electricity sans tariff

SANKHUWASABHA:

At a time when the whole country is facing acute power shortage and hours of load shedding, people of Guphapokhari and Sukepokhari VDCs in Sankhuwasabha district are enjoining round the clock electricity facility for free.

This was made possible after the construction of Guphapokhari Hydropower Project with the investment of Rs 3 million by Katuri Organization. The local Hydropower Project has the capacity of producing five Watts of electricity. Some 50 families of the VDCs have been benefitted with the power produced from the project.

Security guard of the project, Dinesh Chandra Khanal said, "Sometimes the machines remain closed for 1/2 hours for security. Otherwise, the power supply goes on for 24 hours."

Likewise, local Hima Khanal said, "The project was constructed with the interest amount received from the savings of fund that was managed from the collection of sand, pebbles and stones."
