KATHMANDU: After the parliamentarians from different parties completed airing their views on the prime ministerial election and who they will support, Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang initiated the voting process at 5:15pm.
The lobby next to the Speaker's rostrum was specified for the lawmakers to cast their in favour of UCPN-Maoist candidate Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, and the right for the ones who want to vote for Nepali Congress candidate Ram Chandra Paudel.
With the support of parties affiliated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front and other fringe parties, it is certain that Maoist candidate Dr. Bhattarai will win the majority votes to be elected as the new prime minister.
The CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajantantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti Party, however, lent their support to Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Paudel, who is locking his horns with the Maoist leader in the election.
Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal has boycotted the House session today as the new House regulations do not allow the parliamentarians to stay neutral or cast neutral votes.
