KATHMANDU: Unified CPN-Maoists Chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal today said that his party would go for voting with the suggestion of 14 pradeshes if the parties – Nepali Congress and CPN-UML – turned down his proposal of 10 pradeshes model.
During an interaction with the delegation of leading Newar activists including Satya Mohan Joshi, Padma Ratna Tuladhar, Malla K Sundar and Naresh Tamrakar, Dahal maintained that his party’s bottom line was 10 pradeshes and that must be on the basis of identity.
At his Lazimpat-based residence, the delegation asked Dahal not to abandon their agenda of identity-based federal units as their proposal was scientific and practical. They had also urged him that the identities of the two indigenous nationalities must not be overlapped.
Constituent Assembly members Uma Kapali, Satyalal Mool, Mangal Siddhi Manadhar, Rajendra Shrestha and Dilip Maharjan were part of the delegation among others.
According to Naresh Tamrakar, chairman of Newa Deya Daboo – the umbrella organisation of all the Newar organisations – Dahal had said that his party would go for elections among the parties with its earlier stance of 14 pradeshes if the parties failed to make agreement on their latest proposal of 10 pradeshes.
Maoist leaders had reiterated their stance of 14 pradeshes during the meeting of the major parties held at this afternoon.
