NEW DELHI: India’s Defence Minister AK Antony said that the security measures taken by India are often misunderstood by some countries.“India has always been a peace-loving country and will continue to strive for peaceful relations with all its neighbours,” said Antony in an address to the Armed Forces personnel broadcast on All India Radio on the eve of Independence Day.
He said armed Forces all over the world were modernising and becoming technology-intensive and therefore, India was also moving with plans to modernise its armed forces. “Our rising economic stature has brought with it several challenges. The developments in and around our neighbourhood have forced us to review and upgrade our security apparatus,” he said.
