KATHMADNU: So many things to do and so little time! What can you possibly do in one day? That one day you want to spend with your family and friends away from the crowded Capital. And travelling out of station becomes too hectic. What are the other options then? You wrack you brain and at the end you end up staying home.
However, it’s time you wiped that frown off your face, because Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu has a delightful option for you with their ‘Sunday Brunch’ and ‘Saturdays at Hyatt’ at The Café at Rs 1,600 plus taxes, including swimming from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. This will take care of your gastronomic cravings and will provide you a time to dip in the pool to cool off in the scorching heat.
But before anything else, you always want food that agrees with your palate, because when your stomach is filled with scrumptious delicacies, you know the money spent is worth it. So, “for Sunday Brunch we have Biryani kebab concept with a European touch,” says Biplab Kumar Das, Executive Sous Chef. With that lets get a peek at the menu — there is barbecue Pork Tenderloin, Hara Kabab, Paneer Bhujiya, Waldorf Salad, Greek salad, Smoked Fish, Chicken salad, Pork Pepperoni to name a few. For the sweet tooth you can choose from Sacher Tart, Apple Strudel, Passion Fruit Mouse, Strawberry Cheesecake, mixed fruits, Cham Cham and Brownie Flambé.
Now the most important aspect — presentation and the taste. No matter what, anything that looks good is appealing, it’s a basic instinct. Food at the buffet is nicely laid out, all you have to do is hold a plate, stroll around and pick what you feel like eating. Of course, the salad cannot be missed, but don’t fill in just yet. Barbecue Pork Tenderloin looks very tempting, especially when you can see what’s being cooked. Those who don’t like it chewy should tell the chef beforehand or else you can’t relish those devils with barbecue sauce. Paneer Bhujiya on the other hand is perfect — it will give you that ghar ko khana (home food) feel.
If you don’t like following the course order, dig into some Waldorf Salad, it’s creamy with mayonnaise and the apple could not taste better. And of course there is an array of desserts, but the best part is the live brownie flambé. Just order and see the chef work his magic... Brownie is not too sweet and not too gooey, so eating it with mango ice cream becomes heavenly. And don’t forget to add some mixed berry sauce of blackberry and strawberry. Even if you don’t like desserts, you have to try this sauce.
For Saturdays at Hyatt, “we have menu items, such as Satay, Dim Sum, Mongolian Barbecues and Pasta. The hot buffet will have a Nepali selection as the specialty,” mentions Chef Das adding, “The menu will change every week, and includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.”
You cannot swim on a full tummy of course, so remember to take a dip before all the stuffing and take some sun block with you. Swimming under the sun can make you thirsty, so order your drink. However, drinks created especially for the package would have been just right.
