SANKHUWASABHA: Such is the negligence of the country's postal services that a woman here has received a parcel with its contents missing.
The parcel sent by post from Oregon Three, U.S.A. reached the addressee with its contents replaced.
The parcel was posted by one Bolpim Sounders from the U.S. state of Oregon to Sunita Gurung of Khandbari-10, Sankhuwasabha. The parcel with stamps worth 53 US dollars stuck on it reportedly contained materials for a local school.
Gurung said the parcel was empty when she received it at the District Post Office, Sankhuwasabha. She said the parcel should have contained books and clothes as well as other articles weighing 2.5 kilogrammes for 14 students at local Khandbari-based Himalaya Education.
Gurung said although the parcel weighed three kilogrammes, the actual contents were missing and it was stuffed with soap and paper.
She has lodged a complaint with the authorities claiming compensation citing that the postal department has caused the loss of goods worth some Rs 20,000.
