Yoga behind Russell Brand's romance with Geri Halliwell

LONDON: Supple sunbather Geri Halliwell holds an advanced yoga position that is sure to interest her new love Russell Brand, reported British daily The Sun on Wednesday.

The Spice Girl and randy comic have fallen head over heels thanks to a shared love of the body-bending exercise.

And among other positions, they have been practising one called asana, which involves the mastery of sitting still.

According to Geri, it gives them a “spiritual connection” and a closer bond.

The Sun told yesterday how Brand, 37, had dumped girlfriend Isabella Brewster, 30, to go on a string of dates with Geri, 40.

Ginger Spice has released two yoga DVDs and Brand met American beauty Isabella, sister of Fast and Furious actress Jordana, at yoga classes in the US. Yoga positions include happy baby, downwards facing dog and legs-up-the-wall.

A pal said: “Geri has said they have a spiritual connection through yoga and they practise asana together.

“Russell is known for action between the sheets but he is actually very good at just sitting still in silence. It is something that has acted as a bond for he and Geri as their relationship blossoms.”

Brand and Geri became an item after both performed at the Olympics closing ceremony.

Afterwards the funnyman said: “I’ve got a crush on Geri Halliwell — everything in the world is how it should be.”

His 14-month marriage to I Kissed A Girl singer Katy Perry ended in divorce in December. And Geri split from millionaire property developer’s son Henry Beckwith last year.

Brand’s new romance has not stopped him flirting with other girls.

At a gig in London’s Lyric theatre on Monday night, he was heckled by a lass who flashed her boobs and said she was on a lesbian outing with the woman next to her.

Brand’s response was to suggest they all get together for a threesome. And a witness said: “He joked they shouldn’t be so sure about being lesbians until they had slept with him.”
