KATHMANDU: Different student unions today padlocked the offices of the campus chief and assistant chiefs at Ratna Rajya (RR) Campus giving the officials a seven-day ultimatum to resign.
A meeting of representatives of Nepal Students Union, All Nepal National Free Students Union, All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary units along with members of the college Free Students Union decided to padlock the offices of Campus Chief Gopal Chandra Pokharel and Assistant Campus Chiefs Bhagawan Chandra Gyawali, Shyam Bahadur Shrestha and Jeevandhar Gyawali.
The meet gave a seven-day ultimatum to the college administration to fulfil their nine-point demand. The demands include improvement of college management and academic environment and increased transparency in financial transactions.
“Since the administration ignored our demands, we were forced to padlock the offices demanding their resignation.” said NSU-RR secretary Lila Bhattarai.
He said there was no point in holding talks with the administration unless the demands were met.
The students have also demanded that the campus distribute free-ships to all students, set up of an e-library for Masters students, provide internet facility for students and make available recorders and digital camera for journalism students.
They also want regular transmission of the Tribhuvan University FM station.
Students had vandalised the office of the campus chief and assistant campus chiefs yesterday protesting postponement of free-ship interviews scheduled for January 12 and 13.
