NEPALGUNJ: As the deadline for the promulgation of new constitution is fast approaching, the number of groups, organisations and political parties to call bandh and enforce general shutdown is increasing simultaneously. In fact, not a single day has been left before May 27 for closure.

Three different groups pitching for an undivided Mid-west, Intact Tharuhat and Unified Tarai have been agitating in the Mid-west region including Banke and Bardiya. Bandhs enforced by different groups and organisations have thrown life out of gear for the past five days in Banke and Bardiya.

Muslims called bandh for one day in between the past five days. Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Nepal today enforced general strike in Banke and slated for five-day bandh from May 14 to May 18. Similarly, Tharus have called for five-day bandh.

Frequent bandhs have made life grueling in the region. Tharu seniors have assembled in Nepalgunj to make bandh success.

Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum Nepal activists today vandalised three motorbikes, two trucks and one bus in Nepalgunj for defying the general shutdown.

Forum activists held out a rally in Nepalgunj. Vehicular movement was disrupted due to bandh in Banke and Bardiya. Hundreds of passengers have been stranded due to general strike.
