11 metric tonnes solid waste collected

Eleven metric tonnes garbage was collected from rivers and ring road areas here today part of weekly cleanup campaigns.

Three metric tonnes garbage was collected from the Bagmati River near Guheshwori temple as part of the Bagmati Clean-up Campaign that entered its 254th week today.

Security personnel, volunteers and representatives of the High-Powered Committee for Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilisation and different organisations took part in the weekly clean-up campaign.

Likewise, one metric tonne garbage was collected from the Bagmati River above the Guheshwori temple, chairman of Pudasaini Friendship Society Uttam Pudasaini said. Similarly, three metric tonnes garbage was collected as part of 209th week of Rudramati cleanup campaign.

An awareness programme was also organised during the weekly cleaning event on the premises of Ram Mandir. Former additional inspector general of Nepal Police Bigyan Raj Sharma and other campaigners joined the event.

Similarly, Bishnumati River cleanup campaign entered its 180th week and Ring Road cleanup 50th week. Three metric tonne garbage was collected from the cleanup activities in Balaju area as part of ring road cleanup campaign and one metric tonne from Aloknagar area.
