KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Office said 1,742 suspects were arrested for interrogation under the election security plan in Kathmandu Valley from November 17 to December 5.

Of them, 1,494 were held from Kathmandu while 156 and 73 were arrested from Lalitpur and Bhaktapur respectively.

As many as 588 of them have been charged with various offences while the rest of the arrestees were released after interrogation.

MPO said preliminary investigation had shown that 38 persons were involved in anti-election activities.
