2 'big' drug companies sealed for black marketing

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday sealed the pharmaceutical company of former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Pradeep Jung Pandey.

A special police team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, carried out a raid at the Lomus Pharmaceuticals Pvt.Ltd operated by Pandey and sealed the company.

Police said that they have arrested Pandey's sons Prabal Jung Pandey and Prajol Jung Pandey for investigation.

Meanwhile, Police have raided the Deurali- Janta Pharmaceuticals Pvt.Ltd and arrested General Manager Hari Bhakta Sharma.

Police informed that they raided the two companies after they got a tip-off that the companies have been selling medicines at a higher rate than the marked price.

"The companies have been selling life-saving medicines at the higher rate than the price fixed by the government," SSP Bikram Singh Thapa of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu said, adding "This is a great challenge to the government."

He further claimed that their activities put the threat on life of patients.

Police are investigating into the case, Thapa informed.
