2 killed in Valley accidents

KATHMANDU: Police said two persons died in assorted road accidents in Kathmandu on Friday.

Suwarna Shankar (38), a permanent resident of Sathijud-3 in Ilam district, succumbed to injuries he sustained while being hit by a truck yesterday, police said.

The man was hit by the vehicle (Ba 1 Ga 1511) in front of the Singha Durbar West Gate, KMC-31 on Friday.

He was rushed to the Bagbazaar-based Kathmandu Model Hospital, where he breathed last during treatment, police said.

Meanwhile, police arrested the truck driver Bal Krishna Shrestha (31) to investigate into the case.

In a similar case, a pedestrian died after being hit by a passenger bus in Banasthali of Kathmandu on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Shiva Prasad Dhakal (52), a permanent resident of Dhalajung-52 of Gorkha district, currently residing in Nagarjun Municipality of the Capital.

The bus (Na 4 Kha 3985) had hit him at the local Dhungedhara area of Banasthali.

He was rushed to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for treatment, but the Hospital declared him dead on arrival.

Police impounded the vehicle and arrested its driver for further investigation.
