KATHMANDU: At least seven security personnel, including two Deputy Superintendents of Police, were injured in a clash with locals at the Everest Gas Industry Pvt. Ltd.'s refilling plant in Chalnakhel, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

DSP Tika Bahadur KC and DSP Rewati Dhakal were injured in the incident, according SSP Vikram Singh Thapa.

It has been learned that one of the security officials lost his pistol, loaded with seven bullets, during the clash.

Police detained eight people, all of them local residents, for their involvement in vandalism. The locals had forcefully entered the premises of Everest Gas demanding that cooking gas cylinders refilled at the plant be distributed to them.

According to police, they had to use force as the locals obstructed the supply of cooking gas cylinders from the plant.

The Kathmandu Valley is currently witnessing acute crisis of fuel including cooking gas due to the border blockade for three months.
