ANNISU-R to protest against black-marketing

Kathmandu, February 2

All Nepal National Independent Student’s Union-Revolutionary aligned to three Maoist parties — Unified CPN-Maoist, CPN-Maoist and CPN (Maoist) — today announced protest programmes against artificial shortage and black-marketing of essential commodities.

According to a statement issued here today, ANNISU-R will submit a memorandum to supply minister tomorrow and stage a sit-in in front of the Nepal Oil Corporation on February 4 to exert pressure on the government to control black-marketing of fuel and other daily essentials.

The statement said the student union would stage corner meetings and demonstrations in all colleges on February 7 and meet minister for physical planning and transport on February 5 and ask him to adjust transport fares in line with oil prices and implement the agreement to allow 45 per cent discount on transport fares to students.

It further said that they plan to submit memorandums to Tribhuvan University’s vice chancellor and president of TU Service Commission on February 4 and stage demonstration against the TU’s decision to give permanent status to contract teachers.
