Bhattarai announces establishment of Naya Shakti Nepal

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Sunday announced establishment of the Naya Shakti Nepal (New Force Nepal) as a new political party under his leadership.

Amid a special function organised at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu in presence of thousands of cadres today, Bhattarai announced that the party would play an effective role as an alternative political force.

Bhattarai, meanwhile, also administered the oath to members of the party immediately after announcement of the establishment.

The party has been claiming to have more than 100,000 members from across the nation.

Leaders of major political parties and Kathmandu-based members of the diplomatic community had also attended the announcement ceremony.

On September 26 last year, Bhattarai had announced that he had severed ties with the then UCPN-Maoist, in which he was the second man for years, claiming old political forces could not transform the nation into a prosperous one.

On January 24, he had announced to establish a new political force and had formed the Naya Shakti Nepal Interim Central Council as its preparation.
