Chautari calls for promoting small media

KATHMANDU: Press Chautari Nepal has suggested the Press Council Nepal to pay an attention to the protection and promotion of small-scale media, make the newspapers classification transparent, set new criteria for journalists and editors and take the ownership of working journalists too.

At a discussion programme held here Monday, Chautari General Secretary Madhav Nepal stressed on the need of brining radios, television channels and online media into the classification of Council.

On the occasion, Council Chair Borna Bahadur Karki assured of addressing the voices of Chautari.

Council's Chief Officer Jhabindra Bhusal and Deputy Administrative Officer Deepak Khanal said the Council will continue discussions about the issues including freedom of press with respective organisations.

Chautari Secretary Ram Kumar Alan, Treasurer Bishwamani Subedi and central members Amrit Nath Timilsina, Ishwari Kafle, Suroj Jung Pandey and Bhaucha Prasad Yadav were present on the occasion.
