New govt will implement Nepal-China agreements: Dahal to Chinese envoy

KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai called on CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the latter's residence in Lazimpat on Friday.

During the meeting, Dahal, who aspires to become new Prime Minister, expressed his belief that new government would be formed soon.

Dahal said the government under his leadership would work for the implementation of the Constitution and peace process and political stability in Nepal, and expedite the post-earthquake reconstruction and development projects, according to his secretariat.

The Maoist chairman tried to convince the Chinese diplomat regarding the implementation of agreements that the Government of Nepal struck with China during the leadership of outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Dahal took up the ownership of agreements, saying they were made by the coalition government that included the Maoist part also. He went on to say the Nepal-China agreements were in fact outcome of the agreement made by the government that he led earlier.

In response, the Chinese Ambassador said the Government of China, the Chinese Communist Party and the people of China would extend their full support to the new government and Dahal's leadership.
