Chinese national held with 44 passports from TIA

KATHMANDU: A Chinese national who was held at the Tribhuvan International Airport in possession of 44 passports last night was handed over to the Embassy of China today.

Weibin_He, who arrived here on a Dragon Air flight from Hong Kong, was arrested by police after he was found carrying the passports during a security check.

He was handed over to the Embassy this afternoon, according to Chief of TIA Police Unit, Deputy Inspector General, Govinda Niroula.

He was reportedly handed over to the Embassy without being prosecuted because the Passport Act and the Immigration Act do not address concerns about a foreigner being arrested with others' passports.

In his statement to police, Weibin said that he was carrying the passports to get Saudi Arabian visas for them.

Weibin, who called himself a businessman, had arrived here last week.
