CoAS leaving for India

KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri is flying to India on Monday to receive the title of Honorary General of Indian Army from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

According to the Nepali Army’s Directorate of Public Relations, CoAS Chhetri is leading a nine-member team.

He is visiting India at the formal invitation of Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh.  As part of the tradition of exchanging titles of honorary general between Nepal and India, Indian President Mukherjee will confer the title on CoAS Chhetri amid a function at the president’s office.

During his stay in India, General Chhetri will meet chiefs of the Indian Army Chief and Air Force.

Similarly, he is also scheduled to call on Indian home minister, defence minister, and external affairs minister, among others. Chhetri will return home on February 6.
