CPN-MC CC approves agreement with UDMF

Kathmandu, April 23

The CPN-Maoist Centre has approved the agreement signed between the government and agitating Madhes-based parties.

A central committee meeting of the party held at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today decided to take initiative to hold local-level elections in a free and fearless manner by approving the agreement signed between the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front yesterday.

Stating that the agreement signed between the government and the United Democratic Madhesi Front has created favourable environment for elections, it also urged the major political parties to fulfil their political responsibilities.

The CPN-Maoist Centre thanked all for their crucial role in forging consensus, said party Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.

On the occasion, Prime Minister and CPN-MC Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal briefed the central committee members on the contents of the agreement between the government and the Madhesi front.

Stating that he had succeeded in forging consensus with the agitating forces, the PM said no one could disrupt the polls now. He also directed party leaders to focus on elections.

He said it was the happiest moment for the country as environment was created for all parties to participate in the elections. The meeting also decided to take initiatives to implement the deal. The UDMF and other agitating Madhesi parties had threatened to boycott polls if their concerns were not addressed.
