KATHMANDU: A person died in a road accident at Balaju in Kathmandu on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Shekhar Pyakurel of Gerkhu in Nuwakot district. Similarly, a pillion rider Mandip Pariyar of Damauli in Tanahu district was also injured in the accident.

The incident took place when a jeep hit the cyclist Pyakurel, said police. Pyakurel died while undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.

Injured Pariyar is receiving treatment at the local People's Hospital.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident is underway and the search is on for the driver who fled the scene after the incident, said police.
