Deceased workers’ kin get succour

Kathmandu, June 15

Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board handed over Rs 250,000 each to the families of 33 trekking workers who lost their lives in the Himalayas at different times.

TAAN president Nava Raj Dahal explained the importance of Trekkers’ Information Management Systems for controlling illegal trekking operation, generating employment and ensuring indemnity for trekking workers. Stressing the significance of TIMS, he said that it would assure revenue increment and safety of trekkers.

NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi highlighted the need to make trekking trails safer and more secure through proper maintenance.
