‘Diabetes, thyroid disorders on the rise’

Kathmandu, April 15

Minister for Health Ramjanam Chaudhary has underscored the need for launching programmes to raise awareness about diabetes and thyroid disorders in view of the growing population suffering from the diseases.

Inaugurating the Kathmandu Diabetes and Thyroid Centre run by Alka Hospital in Jawalakhel today, Minister Chaudhary said of late the risk of non-communicable diseases were increasing and billions of money were being spent on treatment.

Chairperson of the centre, Kumar Thapa, shared that the centre was brought into operation with the objective of providing patients world-class services for the treatment of diabetes and thyroid problems. He claimed that Nepali patients need not fly abroad for treatment of the diseases. The centre has been established as a sister organisation of Alka Hospital.
