Digambar Jha allowed to withdraw his petition

Kathmandu, July 15

The Supreme Court today granted permission to Digambar Jha to withdraw his petition that he had filed against the government seeking reinstatement of his job at Nepal Telecom Authority.

A division bench of justices Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Tanka Bahadur Moktan granted the leave to Jha to withdraw his case. Jha lost his job of NTA chair when the government decided on July 4 to rescind all political appointments made by the Sher Bahadur Deuba after August 30. Jha, who had won a stay order, had filed a petition on Friday seeking to withdraw his case.

A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari had issued an interim order till further hearing in response to the cases filed by Jha.

The day Jha filed an application seeking to withdraw his case, he said the SC’s stay order meant his sacking was not fair, but at the same time, it was not right for him to continue to hold the post if the government did not want his service.
