DPM Thapa hails US-UK visit as grand success

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Friday returned home after completing his official visit to the United States and the United Kingdom.

Upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Thapa hailed his visit as a grand success.

He said his visit was successful in clearing the air over recent political developments in Nepal after the promulgation of the Constitution.

Claiming that illusions were created in the international arena about the Constitution and other political developments thereafter, Thapa said high level meetings he conducted removed them to the maximum extend possible.

Thapa had left for New York on April 19.

During his stay in the US, he had held bilateral talks with the US Secretary of State John Kerry. In London, he had met British Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire.

He had also addressed an interaction organised by Washington DC based United States Institute of Peace to mark the first year of the destructive earthquake occurred in Nepal.
