Duo held with musk pod, herbs

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested two persons in possession of a musk pod and various valuable herbs from Dhumbarahi of Kathmandu on Sunday.

Musk pods are substances obtained from glands of the male musk deer, an endangered animal, and are used in cosmetic and medicinal productions.

Karsang Lama (31) from Sunkhani-8 of Sindhupalchok and Lokesh Budha Chhetri (18) from Sinja Narakot-8 of Jumla were arrested from a team deployed from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police.

The CIB had launched a manhunt after getting a tip-off that the duo were involved in illegal transactions of the wildlife body parts and conserved herbs.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been sent to the Kathmandu District Forests Office for further investigation.
