EU welcomes new statute as culmination of peace process

KATHMANDU: The European Union has said the new constitution is an historic achievement for Nepal, as it culminated the peace process in the country.

Issuing a press statement from Brussels, the EU spokesperson Margaritis Schinas said, “The conclusion of this long process should lay the foundation for Nepal’s future political stability and economic development.”

The EU, however, maintained that it “expects all parties to come together to address the outstanding concerns of the Nepali citizens in an atmosphere of dialogue and compromise.”

The EU fully supports the Government and the people of Nepal in the reconstruction of the country following the devastating earthquakes of April and May this year, the statement added.
