Fire guts property worth Rs 600,000

KATHMANDU: Properties worth around Rs 600,000 were reduced to ashes when a fire destroyed a Newari restaurant and a grocery shop in KMC-34.

Police said that Rs 40,000 in cash and other valuable goods worth around Rs 300,000 were destroyed in the fire that broke out at the Newari restaurant belonging to Nisha Kodel of Bangalamukhi, Lalitpur-22.

The cause behind the fire was cooking gas leakage, police informed.

The fire that started from the Newari restaurant quickly spread to the grocery shop of Roshan Majhi and gutted property worth around Rs 300,000, police informed.

Police said that Bal Devi Chaulagain sustained injuries while containing the fire.
