Alleged foreign employment frauds nabbed

KATHMANDU: Police said they arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in foreign employment fraud cases from assorted locations of Kathmandu.

Surendra Bimal Yadav (32), a permanent resident of Pharset-4 of Saptari district, was arrested from Kageshwori Manahara-13 of the Capital on Wednesday.

Yadav reportedly swindled nine persons from Phakira village of Saptari district of Rs 700,000 claiming he would send them to Dubai of the United Arab Emirates for lucrative jobs, police said.

The alleged fraud even took away their passports and stamped fake visas on them, according to police.

Likewise, Bijaya Thapa (22) a permanent resident of Hetaunda-11, currently residing in Manamainju of Kathmandu, was arrested for swindling four persons of Rs 500,000 each assuring them to send them to Russia for job.

He was arrested from Gaushala of Kathmandu yesterday.

After knowing of the fraud, the victims had knocked the doors of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division seeking legal action against them.

Police also seized various passports, various fake visa stickers and letters from their possessions.

Both of the suspects have been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation and action.
