Gopal Kiranti of UCPN-M wishes to topple Oli govt pronto

KATHMANDU: Ruling coalition partner UCPN-Maoist Standing Committee member Gopal KirantiĀ on Thursday demanded that the current government led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli be replaced with the new one at the earliest.

Kiranti said the incumbent government was working against the nation.

"The government of KP Oli is one of the dangerous and the traitorous governments in the history," Kiranti said speaking at an interaction with journalists at the Capital.

"A consensus government should be formed under the leadership of UCPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda," Kiranti proposed, referring to own party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, "If that is not possible, a government can be formed under the leadership of Sher Bahadur Deuba."

He urged the Maoist party to pull out of the government and withdraw the support extended to it at the earliest.

Kiranti claimed that around 50 Central Committee members of the party were in favour of withdrawing support extedned to the government. He added that he would hold discussions over it at the CC, politburo and parliamentary party.

"The UML-led government has betrayed us," he said, "The UCPN-Maoist is tired of KP Oli. This government cannot last long."
