Govt to brief political situation to diplomats

KATHMANDU: The government is set to brief the Kathmandu-based diplomatic community about the latest political developments in the country tomorrow. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Finance Ram Sharan are going to jointly brief Kathmandu-based foreign diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). MoFA spokesperson Tara Prasad Pokhrel told THT that the ministry had sent invitations to all foreign embassies in Kathmandu and the United Nations Country Office to attend the programme. The ministry expects all foreign envoys or heads of missions to take part. An official said the government decided to give foreign diplomats the latest update on the constitution writing efforts following the deadly incident in Tikapur of Kailali on Monday. As many as seven policemen and a child were killed in the incident.
