Govt withdraws Bill on Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences

KATHMANDU: The government on Thursday has decided to withdraw the Bill on Manmohan Memorial Institute of Health Sciences (MMIHS).

A Cabinet meeting held this afternoon made the decision to this effect.

Withdrawal of the Bill on MMIHS is one of the demands of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital’s senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC.

Dr KC has been staging fast-unto-death for the ninth time since September 26 demanding reforms in Nepal’s medical education.

The National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) on September 24 had decided to rename itself as the Manmohan National Academy of Medical Sciences.
