Health Minister Thapa meets hunger-striker Dr KC
KATHMANDU: Minister for Health Gagan Kumar Thapa met Dr Govinda KC on Tuesday.
Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr KC has been staging hunger strike for more than two weeks in the premises of Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) putting forth various demands including reforms in medical education.
On the occasion, Minister Thapa inquired about the health condition of Dr KC.
Minister Thapa said that he would hold talks with the high-level political committee for the resolution of the problems.
He also assured to raise the issue again about the demands of Dr KC in the meeting of the council of ministers to be held today.
Meanwhile, Minister Thapa also held talks with Dean of Institute of Medicine (IOM) Dr Singh regarding giving an outlet to the existing problems, according to the Minister's Private Secretariat.
It has been learned that the health condition of Dr KC is deteriorating.
