Heavy rain expected few more days in Capital

KATHMANDU: The heavy rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley is expected to continue for few more days, said the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

Westerly winds in the country and a low-pressure system in the north-east region triggered the rainfall, according to meteorologist Subash Rimal at the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

"The impact of eastern low-pressure system was primarily seen in the central and eastern regions which were expected to bring changes in the weather pattern today," said Rimal adding, "Moisture from the surface of the Bay of Bengal also contributed to weather change."

The central, eastern and western parts of the country will see normal rainfall today.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 41 mm rainfall while Dhankuta received 37 mm, Pokhara 14 mm, Taplejung 12 mm and Biratnagar 5 mm.
