House meet postponed for 2 pm Friday

KATHMANDU: Speaker Onsari Gharti has postponed the Parliament meeting for 2 pm on Friday as major parties' leaders failed to forge consensus on agenda of the meeting.

Earlier, she had postponed the meeting for 2 pm from 11 am today.

The Nepali Congress and the CPN Maoist Centre have been demanding that the House should discuss a no-trust motion filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli before the budget-related bills are endorsed.

While the CPN-UML has been insisting that the House should  allow a debate on the three budget-related bills before the discussion over the no-trust motion takes place.

House meet yet to begin as leaders' bid for consensus on

KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting, which was postponed for 2 pm today, is yet to begin as of 2:30 pm as top leaders of major political parties and the Speaker are holding discussions in a bid to find consensus on agenda of the meeting.

Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal are holding a meeting with Speaker Onsari Gharti at the latter's chamber.

However, they are yet to find consensus on what to put first for the discussion - a no-confidence motion filed against the government or the three pending budget bills.

House meet postponed for 2 pm

KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting scheduled for 11 am on Thursday has been postponed for 2 pm.

Speaker Onsari Gharti postponed the meeting to find consensus after the major parties did not budge from their respective stances.

The Nepali Congress and the CPN Maoist Centre have been demanding that the House should discuss a no-trust motion filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli before the budget-related bills are endorsed.

While the CPN-UML has been insisting that the House should  allow a debate on the three budget-related bills before the discussion over the no-trust motion takes place.

Earlier this morning, Speaker  Gharti and top leaders of the major political parties held a meeting at Singha Durbar to resolve the issue.

The meeting, however, could not make any concrete decision.

It has been learned that the next meeting has been scheduled for 1 pm today.

The NC and the CPN Maoist Centre had filed the no-trust motion against the Prime Minister on July 13.
