Immediate change in Party leadership not possible: NC leader Khand

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress’s Central Committee Member Balkrishna Khand has clarified that an immediate change of party leadership is not possible.

Speaking at a press meet organized by Reporter's Club on Tuesday, Khand remarked that not only the Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba but every party member must be accountable for the Party’s recent defeat in Parliamentary and Provincial Elections.

“Criticism against the Party’s Chair won’t bring about changes in the leadership,” Khand said, “Recent losses are a matter of social accountability and everyone must own up to the results. Discussions regarding leadership change will be held in Central Committee if someone begs the question. However, the leadership won’t change, rather NC will move forward in unison.”

According to Khand, Party’s General Secretary, Shashank Koirala has also taken into account the recent defeat suffered by NC and is positive on re-vitalizing the Party through unison.

“Moreover, if Deuba wants to lead the Party in Parliament, he can,” Khand added, “There is no divide of opinion in the party and no agenda of leadership change.”
