Kamal Thapa flays CC recommendation citing power sharing

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Kamal Thapa on Friday said that the recommendation for three Election Commissioners by the Constitutional Council made today was unfortunate and sad as it involved political power sharing and syndication.

Hours after the recommendation, Thapa tweeted and commented that the decision was politically biased, and therefore wrong.

निर्वाचन आयोगका आयुक्त सिफारिसमा भागवण्डा र सिण्डिकेटतन्त्र हावि हुनु दुखद र दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण

The Council had recommended three names -- Narendra Dahal, Ishwari Prasad Paudel and Sudhir Kumar Shah -- for commissioners of the constitutional body.

It has been learnt that Dahal and Shah are close to CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre respectively.

Similarly, Paudel is loyal to Nepali Congress.

Currently, the Election Commission has two commissioners including the Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav and Commissioner Ila Sharma.
