KMC manages city's untidy wires and cables

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started management of the wires and cables set up along the electric poles.

The untidy wires dangling and hanging down from the poles have been taken care of at Tripureshwor, Kamaladi and Kamal Pokhari, informed KMC's Environment Management Department Chief Rabinman Shrestha.

The KMC collected 15 truckloads of disorderly managed wires and cables, and  have been sent to Teku.

The KMC started the campaign as the disordered wires in the city have contributed to making the city ugly and posed a risk of breaking out fire.

The KMC has also penalised internet service providers – Subisu and World Link – Rs 20,000 each for setting up wire networks haphazardly.

KMC has issued a warning vowing to take action against anyone contributing to making the streets hideous.

The KMC has intensified its drive to make the city cleaner by managing and throwing away the disconnected wires. Similarly, its has also been washing the streets during the night to rid the city of dust.
